INTRODUCTION

Non-destructive testing popularly known as ‘NDT’ is widely used in all industries for quality control of their products and or maintenance inspection of plants and machinery. It has gained acceptance of all International Inspection Authorities due to reliability and reproducibility of test findings. It has unlimited applications and scope of 100% testing without impairing usefulness of a product. With the advancement of technology there is demand for defect free engineering materials to ensure satisfactory performance in end use and this assurance can not be met from sample testing. Again, every industry wants to eliminate defective material at different stages of processing to save time and money before rejection of end product. In fact, NDT has its potential role in the cradle to grave cycle of a product.

There are conventional as also non-conventional NDT methods to meet different test requirements based on material, geometry, dimensions, weight, surface condition and speed besides economy. While conventional NDT methods cover Visual Test (VT), Liquid Penetrant Test (PT), Magnetic Particle Test (MT), Radiographic Test (RT), Ultrasonic Test (UT), Eddy current Test (ET), Electromagnetic Sorting(EM), Hardness Test (HT), Leak Test (LT), Coating Thickness Measurement, Crack Depth Measurement Test, Conductivity Measurement etc., non-conventional NDT methods include Optical Holography, Acoustic Emission, Microwave Inspection, Thermal Inspection etc.

Application of each method needs Equipment, Accessories, Appliances and Consumables for complete Testing and thus NDT has become an industry in itself with over 3000 products by now. More and more innovated products are being added every year in this high-tech field throughout the world to be recognised as a special branch of industry.

We a team of qualified & experienced engineers in the field started this organisation 47 years back from today with the sole aim of import substitution of all NDT products and we have been able to manufacture nearly 300 items by now.
